CME ON VARIOUS CLINICAL INVESTIGATIONS
Mangalore Chapter
A CME was organized by IHMA Mangalore chapter on
30.3.08, Sunday at Fathima Retreat Hall. The first
session was on Importance of Hematological and
Biochemical investigations- its relevance in day to
day practice. Prof. Dr. G.K.Swethadri, MBBS, DCP,
MD, MRCP, Professor of Pathology, Fr Muller Medical
College was the resource person. Dr Swethadri
emphasized the importance of investigations and it
relevance in our day to day practice.
The second session was on Chest X- ray- basics. The
resource person for this session was Dr Devadas
Acharya, MBBS, MD, DNB (RADIODIAGNOSIS),
Associate professor, Dept of Radiodiagnosis. Dr
Acharya made his session very interesting and lively
by interacting with the participants.
There were around 110 participants. Dr Swethadri
was presented with a memento by Dr Shrinath Rao,
Vice Principal, FMHMC. Dr Acharya was felicitated by
Dr Shilpi Rastogi.
The CME was well organized by the active and dynamic
team of IHMA, Mangalore chapter. Dr Prasanna Kumar,
Secretary welcomed the gathering and Dr Praveen Raj,
NWC member proposed the vote of thanks. National
Secretary General Dr Roshan Pinto was present during
the sessions.

Indian Homoeopathic Medical Association (IHMA)

Activities:
1.Conducts CME programmes for practioners and
Homoeopathic students with the objective of
upgrading clinical efficiency of Homoeopathic
community. Recently held CME was on 20.07.2007. The
CME was attended by more than 150 participants from
in and around Mangalore.
The speaker for the first session was Dr Habib Khan,
Asst Professor, Fr Muller Medical College and
Hospital and a well known paediatrician of the city.
His presentation on approach to fever and cough in
paediatrics highlighted some diagnostic clues and
management followed by interaction. Second session
was by Dr Sanjeev Lazar from Kanhangad was on
Homoeopathic approach in paediatric cases.
2.Distributed Malaria preventive medicines to
General public mainly to apartments and hostels.
Members of IHMA Mangalore chapter are regularly
distributing Homoeopathic preventive medicines to
prevent one of the most prevalent epidemics of
Mangalore i.e. Malaria. On Sundays members of IHMA
are following up these cases and reminding them to
take the medicines as per the directions.
The medicines are given in a 1 dram bottle with
printed sticker outside which reads- “Preventive
Medicine- IHMA, Mangalore”. With this programme the
IHMA aims to propagate the system of Homoeopathy as
well as to bring to the notice of district health
officials regarding the efficacy of our medicines in
preventing certain epidemics. IHMA also plans to
extend these programmes to some large government
establishments like KSRTC.
