The fourth central zone conference and scientific seminar of IHMA Kerala chapter was held on 4th November 2007 at hotel Arcadia, Kottayam. 260 delegates attended the seminar. The programme began at 9.30 AM. Dr.Esmail Sait, former principal, Govt.Homoeopathic Medical college, Calicut, inaugurated the scientific session. He also paid respect to our master, Dr.Samuel Hahnemann by garlanding the portrait. After this, our guest faculty Dr.Ajay Kumar, Medical director, Indo American Brain & Spine Hospital, Vaikom, delivered a class on neurospinal disorders. He presented the subject beautifully and precisely and was very informative and got applauds of the delegates. Dr.Sreejeev.S, National President of IHMA, presented a memento to Dr.Ajaykumar as a symbol of honor.

As the continuation of the session Sri.Arun Thachil MPT [Ortho] and Sri.Subin Yousuf MPT [Ortho], Lecturer, Dpt. of Physiotherapy, Medical Trust Hospital, Ernakulam, demonstrated the auxiliary measures in the treatment of neurospinal disorders and the rehabilitation procedures. It was very informative and useful to our day-to-day practice. A memento was presented to Sri. Arun Thachil by Dr. M.E.Prasanth Kumar, Chief Editor, Homoeopathic Medical Panorama and to Sri. Subin Yousuf by Dr.V.Suresan, State President IHMA.

After Scientific session ten minutes were allotted to one of our sponsors, SBL for an audio visual demonstration of their products.

The conference session began at 12.45 PM and the function was presided by Dr.V.Suresan, State President, IHMA. Dr.Vijoy Joseph, Chairman, ‘Spience 2007’, welcomed the gathering. In his presidential address, the state president pointed out that the articles published in periodicals questioning the efficacy of Homoeopathic treatment and such other comments reflect the personal interests of some groups. He also mentioned that it would not reduce the popularity of our system.

The Honorable MLA of Kottayam, Sri.V.N.Vasavan inaugurated the 4th central zone conference of IHMA Kerala chapter by lighting the lamp. In his inaugural speech, he advised that we Homoeopaths need not answer such cheap statements against homoeopathy and it is the public who has to accept a medical system and we have such an acceptance. He showed his belief in the homoeopathic system of medicine as he has years of personal experience. He also appreciated the service we put forth during the Chikungunya epidemic.

Dr K.A.M Habeeb, State General Secretary, IHMA, in his keynote address, pronounced the successful activities of IHMA such as PSC training programme ’MOST-2007’, various research works through IHRC etc. He also mentioned that many research projects are planned under IHRC, the research wing of IHMA. In the medical university issue, he proclaimed the stand of IHMA is for a common university for all medical systems.

Our Guest of Honor Dr. S. Sreejeev, National President of IHMA addressed the audience thereafter.
Dr.Susamma Jacob, Principal, ANSS Homoeopathic Medical College, Kottayam and Dr.Muhammed Shafeeq Masani, Chief Editor,’Homoeopathy Service’ of KGHMOA felicitated the conference.
Dr.Mini.G.Varma, Director, Spience 2007 extended the Vote of Thanks.
After the Conference session all enjoyed the delicious lunch.

Afternoon session started at 2.30 PM. In this session Dr.Esmail Sait, former Principal, Govt.Homoeopathic Medical College, Calicut, opened the treasure of his years of experience in practicing homoeopathy before the audience in a simple manner.
Dr M.G.Oommen, founder National President of IHMA, presented a memento to Dr. Esmail Sait as a token of our love and respects.

Next session was on Homoeopathic Management of Neurospinal disorders. We got the right person to handle the subject Dr.Mansoor Ali.K.R, Tutor, Govt. Homoeopathic Medical College, Calicut. As a co-coordinator of Medical Officer Structured Training (MOST) programme he has already proved his academic ability. He explained the ways of case taking and treatment in neurospinal disorders by presenting treated cases and it was very effective and useful to all.
Dr.Ajith Kumar.V.K, National Finance Secretary, IHMA presented a memento to Dr.Mansoor.

Followed by this session a lucky dip was conducted as a closing ceremony. Out of six prizes, five were medicine kits sponsored by Sreekrishna Homoeo Research and Lab, Ernakulam and the mega prize was a glucometer sponsored by Pulsatum. Dr.Sudha, Tutor, Padiyar Memorial Homoeopathic College won the mega prize. After this Spience 2007 concluded at 5.30 Pm.

Many of National and State working committee members attended the Seminar and we extend our heart felt thanks for their valuable guidance and support by which we made this seminar up to this extend. It was really an achievement of IHMA to conduct a zonal seminar at a resurrecting area with a packed auditorium.
